About

An incredibly warm welcome, Friend.

Firstly, and most importantly, I’d like to say a massive thank you for taking the time to look in to this project.

Heath and Mud is a zine that has the Peak District at its heart, with pathways that will meander and lead us to explore broader themes of what it means for us to spend time outside. We’ll explore and share stories, folklore, walking routes, images, artwork, and insights into connecting with our landscapes. It’s a collaborative body, that will grow with the voices it houses. Consistent themes of inclusivity, empowerment and connection will keep us true to our route, and at our core will be values of respect and of championing each other and our beautiful environments.

Inbetween the larger issues of the zine, there will be smaller and more specialised publications which will focus on a specific topic.

Heath and Mud will evolve and unfold over time – inevitably where we end up will not be how we start, as we find our feet and our voices in this new landscape. We are all cartographers here, and I hope that you’ll enjoy what we unearth along the way.

We’re glad to share these pages and this space with you, and I really hope that you love what we’ve put together.
